A philosopher once spoke of equity among the trees: it is maintained through the use of a hatchet.
No, wait...that was just a Rush song. My mistake.

Honestly the argument about the Price Check forum vs OT is a bit lame. I have a high post count because I put in tons of time trying to help out others as that is the point of the price check forum. There are not that many that just say /agree, and I know of one that was banned for it. I don't really care that much about post count and don't really know why anyone would care that much. But to argue based on a forum section just to blab on vs one that is a service to help people is quite lame.
On the other side, if you are going to even have a post count it is silly just to remove it from this section. If it is "not important" and meaningless then completely remove it. I do not think it will honestly make a difference in how people see others as people that frequent the forum know names and will still think of you as a noob if you are just someone that comes in and start leaving comments in Riverside and such.

Well it's like I said, the feature is there yes, but some people are abusing it because it's available in this forum. If it's so silly to exclude some forums from total post count why does vb feature a function to specifically do just that :P
It's a method of abuse prevention. And unless we are able to stop the abuse we gotta do our best to prevent it.
There are other ways of doing that of course, like deleting a lot of our games which are essentially spam, but I figure people still want them around.

Yeah, uhh, postcount means something? Maybe it's an RPG thing - people just like to see their number increase. It gives those a sense of satisfaction. In that sense, I don't really think it matters if people posting in OT, Ventari's, or wherever get bigger numbers. I couldn't care less, so /signed, I guess.

Post count should just be removed entirely, and anyone who thinks it matters needs to get off the Internet.

Let's face it, the older guru users tend to stick with the rules in the OT. Only spam in the forum games or talk about random stuff outside of GW in the OT many threads.
It's some of the new user that turn up here thinking that this is an easy place for +1, well it is but there're rules even for the spammers and those rules should be follow. I like the OT a lot, it's pretty much the only place I post now beside tech and normal FAQs these days.
And to be honest make it +0 is for the better if the user want a +1 then make a proper post in the inner circle. This is after all Guild Wars Guru, not off topic guru. I miss the day when bacon, leafblade and a lot of older members were active here, it just not the same these days.
Sorry Pwnd but /unsigned from me.

Thanks. My old signature was removed because people were offended and took it personal (lol internet), so I needed a new one.

Having the post count in the OT section gives me an incentive to play the games in it. The way I see it, the post count is a reward for playing the game .

Either add post count in all areas or don't bother with it at all and remove the titles.

I think i know why this has come up, we had some guys spam recklessly the last few days/weeks, wich is also annoying for those of us who liikes to get on here once in a while and have fun in these games, i'll say if someone spam we are reporting it (like 10 posts in 10 minutes), but i agree only the real spammers seems to care, to me it's just about having fun with people across the globe, so to me i would like it still had +1 counts but if not then i will be cool with it, it's not like the games would be boring just because we didn't get +1
Wow that is the longest post i ever made haha

This would be a example of spam. This post has absolutly NOTHING to do with the thread, it is just a random post that would of netted a +1. This is what I want to get rid of.

You know it's true, it seems like the only members breaking the rules are the ones that have joined recently. I didn't really notice that until you mentioned it but you did. Us older members do stick to the rules while the newer guys bypass them and spam.
And ya like Jumping said, without a +1 post count, there is no real reward for playing the games in the OT.

Lol, what? There should be a reward for posting one-word posts with extra "..." to get in the 12 character limit? Off-topic should (imo) be a place for off topic DISCUSSIONS, not stupid forum games where people spam bs posts over and over to boost a number up.

It rewards you in what way? So when you go into an actual discussion you can say "I have a higher post count then you therefore I am superior", or am I missing something?

Then delete the games, the mods were the ones who allowed the games to continue. If you took the games away or limited the number of posts, it would remove all the pointless 1 word posting and constant spam.

That's not the point of post counts. Using post counts to show off is plain stupid. For me I just want to get the titles (kind of like title grinding in GW), I like seeing my title change every now and then.
